When is water good enough for discharge?
Abstract
The new water management paradigms are altering management techniques. Various efforts to define the water quality criteria have created a frontier where policy and technical consideration may conflict. This presentation provides perspective on the intent of the effort to maximize options for water management while limiting exposure to “engineered” waters that may degrade certain formation waters (once considered “simply useless”). This presentation offers some useful water chemistry concepts and analytical tools that are helpful in bringing harmony to policies and technical data.
