Cretaceous to Recent Drainage Evolution of NE South America: Major Provenance for the Guyana‐Suriname Margin Basins

Abstract

Provenance reconstruction for the fluvial clastics that were supplied to the Surinam-Guyanan Margin reveals a number of important changes for the Cretaceous to Recent. The findings improve the understanding of when and where major river systems provided what kind of sands to the basins, impacting the understanding of changes in reservoir quality and location of paleo drainage basins apexes under changing coast lines.
