Transformative Technologies: Moving Beyond Digitization

Abstract

Digitization has been a key focus for the oil & gas industry for the past decade, and the amount of data collected has grown exponentially. The challenge faced by most of the industry now is how to effectively utilize all of this data, especially as an enabler for increased innovation and improved efficiencies. This presentation will examine how the next wave of transformative technologies, including data analytics, cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and computer vision can fundamentally change how the upstream oil and gas industry operates. As with any technology-led paradigm shift, there are inherent risks, particularly cybersecurity, and the implications of this will be explored.
