Abstract

In the exploration industry, datasets can be massive with thousands of kilometers of regional 2D lines, and extensive regional 3D surveys and many wells, but data coverage can also be very sparse with decisions required even in areas with no surface data. Possibly the best approach to enforce the integration of the available data, as well as all of the concepts and analogues in a rigorous geoscientific framework is to create a petroleum systems model, and to utilize it as a critical component of risk assessment.
