A Depositional Model for the Mishrif Formation and Its Impact on Reservoir Heterogeneity, Rumaila Field, Southern Iraq

Abstract

A detailed sedimentological study was performed on the Mishrif Formation, Rumaila field Southern Iraq, in order to build a depositional model for the Upper Cretaceous platform carbonates. The depositional model forms the basis for understanding lateral reservoir quality distribution in the field. In addition, a sequence stratigraphic framework work was established in order to develop a chronostratigraphic framework.
