A Review of Alternative Methods to Modelize Saturation Equations from Capillary Pressure Measurements

Several methods are used in the oil and gas industry to derive saturation equations from capillary pressure curves, by relating water saturation Sw to height H above free-water level, porosity PHI, permeability k and rock-type.
This paper reviews all the known methods published in the industry so far, comparing the pros and cons of each technique. Some of the published equations can be easily modified to preferentially accommodate either PHI or k, and we propose alternative modified equations when applicable.
