Investigation of Groundwater and Sea Water Intrusion Zones using TDEM Method- Muscat, Oman

Abstract

The objective of this study is to locate the extent of seawater intrusion and to map the shallow layer aquifer in the region where water accumulates from the rain or water flooding through infiltration. A quantitative approach for the groundwater quality and distribution requires good knowledge of the spatial distribution of the aquifer thickness and the nature of sediments. Where wells and their geologic logs are not available or not deep enough, geophysical surveys should be considered due to its low cost and short acquisition time.
