Abstract

Using a global sequence stratigraphic model and a series of plate scale depth maps of the Middle East, it is possible to build a 3D regional model for rapid and evergreen exploration analysis. A series of Common Risk Segment (CRS) maps have been created for the Middle East region. These CRS maps are tied to their main contributing source rock intervals, including the: Qusaiba, Akkas, Dadas, Shuqra, Madbi, Naokelekan, Najmah and Hanifa formations. Each one of these organic-rich intervals has a distinct cyclicity and corresponding sequence stratigraphic position. These intervals are significant in terms of their source potential, as analysed using published organic geochemistry datasets.
