Abstract

Late 2010 - early 2011 PDO embarked on extensive testing for low frequency customized sweep using conventional vibrators (ION 362). A 2D test was acquired in North Oman using conventional vibrators and recorded with 10Hz geophones (SM24). The test results revealed recoverable signal as low as 1.5Hz. This encouraged PDO to embark on low frequency customized sweep in production mode. In 2011, two surveys (North Oman and South Oman) were acquired with sweep range of 1.5 to 86Hz. The North Oman survey has wide azimuth geometry with receiver sampling of 25x250m and 50x50m source sampling. The survey was acquired with 12km inline offset and 6.5km cross-line offset using single source, slip sweep, and dynamic fleeting distance separated simultaneous source.
