ABSTRACT: Interpretation of 2-D Reflection Seismic Data and Seismic Stratigraphy of Darquain Field, SW of IRAN
The Major objective of this research is seismic stratigraphy of Darquain Oil field which is located in the south-west of Iran, 45 km of the north-east Abadan. Seismic data are collected along 9 seismic profiles, and there are only three exploration wells in the area. Geologically, the area is located in Dezful depression. The sedimentary basin under investigation formed during lower to middle Jurassic. Major reservoir rocks of the field are Khami and Bangestan groups.
There are no faulting and structure complexity in Darquain field and the field is a gentle anticline with double plunge. General trend of the structure is NE-SW which is different from adjacent structures.
For interpretation of existing seismic profiles in the area, 11 seismic surfaces were selected. The time contour maps of the above mentioned surfaces were generated using Geoframe Software.
On the basis of seismic data, 5 seismic sequences and 7 seismic facies were recognized. Correlating the seismic profiles, lateral changes of the seismic facies were also investigated. This study shows that in the area along the investigated seismic surfaces, with increasing carbonate content, the amplitude and continuity of seismic reflections increase. Neverthless, the amplitude and continuity of the reflections decrease with increasing the fine sediments content and the porosity of carbonates
This interpretation which are obtained from integration and comparison of seismic and well data can be utilized for reservoir quality prediction for the area in which there is no well data available.
