Abstract: Callen Run Proposed Storage - Using 90-Year Old Well Records to Define a Potential Storage Area

Lamont Beers, Glenn Heckman

The Callen Run Speechley sand field was originally delineated using driller's logs. The configuration of the sand body was later refined by the use of wireline logs. Five (5) new wells were drilled to obtain full diameter cores, and sidewall cores were obtained from six (6) existing wells. Porosity values obtained from the cores were used to make an estimate of field volume since production from the wells was not metered. One point permeabilities were calculated from original flow and pressure data and compared with core permeabilities and permeabilities obtained from well tests. These data were used to build a model of the field which was used to estimate field performance.
