Ngā Taonga Hou: Te Riu a Māui me Te Moana Nui a Kiwa: The New and Ancient Treasures of The Continent of Zealandia and the Pacific Ocean its Gas Permeates and Petroleum Resources.  A Polynesian Māori Assessment

Abstract

Whai Rawa: The prosperous Māori and other Polynesian Economies of Mana, is a study of humanity and economy. In this cultural context I explore gas permeates and petroleum resources as taonga hou, meaning new treasures of Te Moana Nui a Kiwa: The Pacific Ocean and its peoples. The permeates and petroleum resources are considered in the cultural framework of four well-beings : spiritual, environmental, kinship, and Economies of Mana. Permeates and petroleum resources are new taonga that have yet to be discussed widely in the Aotearoa Māori Nation, and other Polynesian Nations of the Pacific. These taonga represent both risk and opportunity of the peoples of the new Continent of Zealandia: Te Riu a Māui.
