Abstract
Paleocene to
Middle
Eocene carbonates of the Apollonia Formation are present in the subsurface of a vast area of the Northern Egypt, Western Desert Basins. They also outcrop over large areas of
Middle
and Southern Egypt. In the Abu Gharadig Basin, Apollonia comprises typically tight micro-porous chalky carbonates that have been proven to contain movable hydrocarbons. Dry gas has been discovered and brought into production in the BED 9 and JD-T fields by Shell Egypt.
