Abstract

As the search for petroleum has intensified attention has shifted to more challenging (i.e. deeper and more complex) targets. A key component of exploration is the Previous HitacquisitionNext Hit of vertical seismic profile (Previous HitVSPNext Hit) surveys, for which the increase in target complexity has coincided with higher requirements for Previous HitVSPNext Hit operations, in particular for data with higher amplitudes and a wider bandwidth. Although acquiring data with a wider bandwidth is often an objective of modern Previous HitVSPTop surveys there is little evidence as to how much bandwidth is enough.
