Abstract

As the search for petroleum has intensified attention has shifted to more challenging (i.e. deeper and more complex) targets. A key component of exploration is the Previous HitacquisitionNext Hit of vertical Previous HitseismicNext Hit profile (VSP) surveys, for which the increase in target complexity has coincided with higher requirements for VSP operations, in particular for Previous HitdataNext Hit with higher amplitudes and a wider bandwidth. Although acquiring Previous HitdataTop with a wider bandwidth is often an objective of modern VSP surveys there is little evidence as to how much bandwidth is enough.
