Modelling of Depth Dependent 3D Previous HitTimeNext Hit-Previous HitLapseNext Hit Seismic Noise

Abstract

One of the first on-shore projects in the world of CO2 sequestration is located on-shore in Australia, Victoria. This is the Otway project of Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC) that has been divided into two stages. Since the detectability of a plume is given by the signal to noise ratio, the ability to model a realistic Previous HittimeNext Hit-Previous HitlapseNext Hit noise plays a crucial role in any feasibility study.

There are two possible approaches to modeling Previous HittimeNext Hit-Previous HitlapseNext Hit noise. The first approach is based on detailed understanding of all possible noise types in seismic data and their effect on Previous HittimeNext Hit-Previous HitlapseNext Hit signal. The second approach is an empirical one, where the Previous HittimeNext Hit-Previous HitlapseNext Hit noise model is based on observed Previous HittimeNext Hit-Previous HitlapseNext Hit data and we will focus in this work on this type of the modeling. This is possible, since we have two 3D Previous HittimeNext Hit-Previous HitlapseTop data available from stage I of the Otway project.
