Status of Unconventional Previous HitShaleNext Hit Previous HitGasNext Hit Exploration in India

Boruah, Annapurna S.

The growing gap between natural Previous HitgasNext Hit consumption and supply has spurred interest in development of unconventional Previous HitgasNext Hit resources. India is having the immense prospects of unconventional Previous HitshaleNext Hit Previous HitgasNext Hit resources. Commercial exploration of these Previous HitshaleNext Hit Previous HitgasNext Hit resources can effectively make the global natural Previous HitgasNext Hit curve more elastic. It requires exhaustive investigations of all the Previous HitshaleNext Hit rock properties of hydrocarbon bearing Previous HitshaleNext Hit beds having significant organic matter and maturity. This paper presents the geological, geochemical, petrophysical properties of Previous HitgasNext Hit prospective Previous HitshaleNext Hit plays of different sedimentary basins in India. It also attempts to discuss the sedimentology of Previous HitshaleNext Hit rock, Previous HitgasNext Hit generation and retention mechanisms within the Previous HitshaleNext Hit rock. Delineating the reservoir properties i.e. thermal maturity, reservoir thickness and geographic extent, total organic content, mineralogy, water saturation, fracture types, different Previous HitshaleNext Hit Previous HitgasNext Hit prospective reservoir are identified. These parameters are showing variations in different Previous HitshaleNext Hit Previous HitgasNext Hit systems and even within the same sedimentary basin Previous HitshaleTop rock properties are varying widely.
