A Previous HitseismicNext Hit sequence stratigraphic study was conducted on a 3D Previous HitseismicNext Hit data set of approximately 1000 km2 along a part of the western onshore Gulf of Mexico. Integration of biostratigraphy, well logs and Previous HitseismicNext Hit allowed the generation of a Previous HitseismicNext Hit and sequence stratigraphic framework consisting of deep water mass transport complexes (MTC’s), channel-levee strata, and sheet sands stacked in a systematic Previous HitverticalNext Hit succession and partially contained within a submarine canyon. Age of the main depositional systems range from the Eocene to the Pliocene. Major tectonic events during this period along with eustatic sea level changes dominated the transgressive - regressive depositional systems that formed the principal stratigraphic architecture described here.

Production history shows turbidite fills, channel-levees and sheet sands to be the main reservoir facies. Occurrence of slump deposits that contain vertically stacked sandy bodies may also constitute good potential reservoirs.

Interpretation and visualization of three-dimensional Previous HitseismicNext Hit amplitude and modern Previous HitseismicTop attribute volumes delineate the geometry and distribution of the stratigraphic elements of the sedimentary basin.
