ABSTRACT: Prediction of Fault Population in Wang-Sheng Field Using Seismic Data

Three-dimensional seismic interpretation provides the geometry, location, and dimension of major faults in Wangjiatun-Shengping field. Based on fifteen interpreted faults, and three-dimensional Previous HitnumericalNext Hit analysis we calculated the distribution of reservoir deformation and estimated the possible location and density of small fault/fracture system.

We then compared the Previous HitnumericalNext Hit results with detailed seismic interpretation to observe how they are related or how they are not related. The complexity of the fault system in Wangjiatun-Shengping field indicates that they were not formed by a simple paleo stress field. Thus, we turned back to modify our Previous HitnumericalNext Hit Previous HitmodelTop and adjusted the prediction.

Our work shows that good three-dimensional seismic interpretation, properly defined mechanical analysis, and better understanding of local tectonics are the keys for a better prediction of small fault-fracture population in Wangjiatun-Shengping field.
