Early Miocene-Oligocene shallow marine deltaic gas bearing sandstone reservoirs are deposited in a passive divergent margin setup in western offshore of India. In early exploration history, the structures were mainly defined using 2D Previous HitseismicNext Hit data.

3-D Previous HitseismicNext Hit data allowed Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitattributesNext Hit to be used in reservoir characterization, structural mapping and stratigraphic interpretations. Previous HitSeismicNext Hit Previous HitattributesNext Hit have enhanced interpretation quality by imaging the channel orientation in a complex deltaic regime. Although thin sandstones in the channels are not resolvable from Previous HitseismicNext Hit signatures high amplitude reflections in attribute mark the axes of the channels. Previous HitSeismicNext Hit Previous HitattributesNext Hit are calibrated with lateral variations in pay thickness, porosity and gas saturation of different units. This paper outlines a method that establishes a relationship between various reservoir properties (pay thickness, porosity and gas saturation) and Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitattributesTop (amplitude, frequency and energy half-time). The resultant hydrocarbon volume maps are used for optimum placement of development wells in a discovery.
