Abstract: The origin of light Previous HitoilNext Hit and condensates in the Musi Block - South Sumatra Basin

South Sumatra Basin is one of the prolific basins in Indonesia that was formed during Eocene - Oligocene time. It is located around 75 km to the west of Pendopo oilfield. The hydrocarbon within the area is known as produced from reef of Baturaja Formation limestone group and sandstone layers of Gumai and Air Benakat Formations, as well as pre-Tertiary granitic basement.

It has been well known that the hydrocarbon type ranges 20° to 70°. To specify the source rock, more than 50 Previous HitoilNext Hit samples were obtained for this study. The bulk Previous HitoilNext Hit, biomarker, and carbon isotope Previous HitanalysisNext Hit showed that hydrocarbon were predominantly derived from terrestrial source rock of Talang Akar and Lahat Formations having mature to normal mature level. Additionally, the GC of gasoline range Previous HitanalysisNext Hit of Previous HitoilNext Hit and Previous HitcondensateNext Hit samples shows that the light Previous HitoilNext Hit and Previous HitcondensateNext Hit were formed by evaporative fractionation process.

The Previous HitoilTop was formed and trapped in the lower formation then the light fraction migrated through the fault into the limestone reservoirs in the fields and the heavier fraction remained. This process confirmed the hydrocarbon generation of Musi and Klingi fields that is located in basement high area 20 km to the west of the kitchen.
