Abstract: Modeling Gas-Oil Ratio and Petroleum Fluid Composition in Sedimentary Basins

Wendebourg, J. - IFP; Rudkiewicz, J.-L.; S. J.; Vear, A.; Penteado, H.; Vandenbroucke, M. - BP

Computer modeling of Previous HitcompositionalNext Hit hydrocarbon generation and Previous HitmigrationNext Hit can help to explain gas-oil ratios observed in reservoirs based on the evolution of petroleum fluids as they undergo Previous HitchangesNext Hit in phase and mobility due to cracking, mixing, or transport in different carrier systems. This paper explains the implementation and applications of IFP's Previous HitcompositionalNext Hit Temispack program including Previous HitprimaryNext Hit and secondary cracking in source rocks based on open and closed system pyrolysis, expulsion based on selective retention in the kerogen, Previous HitmigrationTop by miscible three-phase flow based on reservoir correlations or equations of state, and flow properties based on fluid pressure, temperature, and composition. Examples will be presented from the North Sea and the Brazilian Atlantic margin.
