Abstract: Late Quaternary Biostratigraphy
and Isotopic Analysis
of Nannofossils and Forminiferid from a Borehole
of South Atlantic (Pelotas Basin), Brazil

It is presented the results of a research on nannoplankton and foraminiferid biostratigraphy, and oxygen and carbon isotope composition of wole rocks and tests of Globigerina bulloides in Late Quaternary sediments of South Atlantic continental margin (Pelotas Basin).
Studies focusing
on short Late Quaternary paleoclimatic
and paleoecological oscillations and their influences on marine sediments
in the Brazilian margin of the South Atlantic Ocean are rare and based
mainly on paleoecological studies on foraminiferid and normally do not
include isotopic data.
This paper is a contribution to the understanding of climatic and ecological variation during the last Quaternary interglacial/glacial cycle and their influences on the sedimentary processes of the South Atlantic Ocean.
The purpose of this paper is to present the results of our research on Holocene to Late Pleistocene sediments from Pelotas Basin. Variations in nannofossil and planktonic foraminiferid content, oxygen and carbon isotope signals of wole rocks and Globigerina bulloides have been focused on.
