Abstract: Previous HitGlobalNext Hit Warming: Fact or Fantasy—The Science Behind Previous HitGlobalNext Hit Climate Change

Should we really be concerned about Previous HitglobalNext Hit warming? Aren’t increasing levels of CO2 actually good for a planet dominated by photosynthetic organisms? What is with today’s crazy weather? The science behind our current concerns regarding climate change will be presented. What we know about greenhouse gases and their role in Previous HitpastNext Hit and Previous HitpresentNext Hit climate conditions will be described in detail, along with what we don’t know (Previous HitpresentNext Hit knowledge gaps) but need to know regarding the role of greenhouse gases and current climate change/Previous HitglobalNext Hit warming concerns. Specific examples of how selected New England tree species are responding to changes in both physical (ice damage) and chemical climate (air pollution impact) will also be discussed. The role of forest ecosystems as a means of carbon sequestration will be considered, along with the Previous HitfutureNext Hit of forest health in a changing Previous HitglobalTop climate. Questions from the audience will be solicited, and an active exchange of ideas and concerns will be encouraged.
