Abstract: Applications of Planktonic Foraminifera in the Paleogene of the Eastern Venezuela-Trinidad Basin

Sally Radford

Following increased interest in the petroleum potential of the Eastern Venezuela-Trinidad Basin, a revision of the planktonic foraminifera from the Paleogene was undertaken. The application of evolutionary trends in microperforate, medioperforate and macroperforate lineages for petroleum exploration is assessed. Scanning Electron Microscope illustrations are presented for over 100 taxa currently applied in high resolution Previous HitbiostratigraphyNext Hit, Previous HitsequenceNext Hit Previous HitstratigraphyNext Hit and paleoceanography of the region. These will allow more rapid and reliable recognition of zones, hiatuses and Previous HitsequenceTop boundaries.
