ABSTRACT: Pitfalls in Previous HitSeismicNext Hit Modeling of Stratigraphic Traps

EDWARDS, KEITH, Sandlapper Support Services, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

As oil and gas reservoirs become harder to find, the interpretation of Previous HitseismicNext Hit data has shifted from analysis of time structures to analysis of subtle amplitude and character changes. Previous HitSeismicNext Hit modeling of such anomalies is an integral part of the interpretation process. It is important to realize that the subtle changes seen on real Previous HitseismicNext Hit data may not always be due to a geological change. This poster session will show examples of how Previous HitphaseNext Hit changes along a Previous HitseismicNext Hit line can produce similar anomalies to those produced by a geologic change. An attempt will be made to show how to recognize a Previous HitphaseTop change.

At the time of writing this abstract, permission to use real data examples has not been obtained. If it is not possible to use real data, model data will be used exclusively.
