Structural Conditions of Oil Deposit Localization in the Moezian Platform

In the northern part of Bulgaria within the Moezian platform, a series of oil and gas deposits exist. This platform is built of two tectonic structures: the Lom depression and the Ludogorie dome uplift. The deposits are concentrated along the periphery (the slopes) of the two structures in the form of ring formations defined on both geologic maps and remote sensing images. No oil and gas deposits have been identified thus far in the central part of the structures mentioned. Geophysical evidence confirms this fact. Space-based information used in this paper agrees with the facts deduced by ground-based techniques.
