On the Method of Preparing Paleotopographic Maps
of
Synsedimentary Rises for Purpose of Predicting Deposits of Oil and Gas in
Pliocene Productive Beds, Apsheron Oil and Gas-Bearing Regions
T. S. Shakhsuvarov
Many structural
and stratigraphic traps which contain deposits of oil and gas
in middle Pliocene beds (Binaghadhy, Sulutepe, Gala folds) are connected with
the synsedimentary rises of the Apsheron oil and gas-bearing region.
Paleotopographic
maps
of these anticlines in this region are of practical
interest. For this purpose, we determined the length and real position of the
sections
by determining the angles of repose of underwater sediments and
corresponding
sections
of the limb of the fold, visible on the lithofacies map.
Thus, the profile contour of the studied synsedimentary anticline was gradually
reconstructed.
Analogous work restored the profile contours of the other sections
of the
fold. We then cut these contours by the horizontal flatnesses carried out
through the definite interval. Where these traces
cross
the profile contours is
conditionally designed on the leveled surface of the ancient water, after which
we draw the paleobathymetry through the points of the same value and draw the
paleotopographic map of the synsedimentary anticline.
