ATLAS Map-Making System

R. A. Livermore, L. A. Rush, A. G. Smith

The ATLAS program is a global map-making system that enables a user to make Mesozoic and Cenozoic reconstructions and present-day maps simply. Scales can range from about 1:5,000 to 1:50,000, and maps can be windowed onto any part of the world, using 18 different map projections, detailed coastlines, and 200 to 2,000-m submarine bathymetry.

Maps can be drawn using the system's data, or they can be changed to test new reconstructions and improve old ones. Geologic data can be added in various formats. The program is written in ASA FORTRAN 77, is easy to use, and contains many user-friendly facilities.
