A taxonomic, stratigraphic, and statistical study was conducted of the ostracod fauna from the Prairie Bluff Chalk (Upper Cretaceous, Maestrichtian) and the Pine Barren Member of the Clayton Formation (Paleocene, Danian) of Lowndes County, Alabama.

From exposures along Alabama State Highway 263 in Lowndes County, Alabama, 82 species and subspecies of Ostracoda, representing 34 genera, were identified and illustrated. Thirty of these are recognized as new species or subspecies.
