Abstract: Seismic Calibration Techniques for Improved Subsurface Definition

J. P. Lindsey, E. V. Dedman

The development of seismic-related technologies within the past 4 years has significantly advanced the capabilities of the seismic tool in both exploration and exploitation problems. These technologies include: (1) Previous HitwaveletNext Hit processing, (2) two- and three-dimensional forward modeling, (3) Previous HitinverseTop modeling, and (4) seismic-derived acoustic log sections. These geoseismic methods are the bases for stratigraphic and lithologic determinations at the prospect level prior to drilling and, when combined with well-log and engineering data, extend to field definition and quantification for exploitation purposes.
