An Integrated Analysis to Propose the New Pool Finding in the Niru Field, South Sumatera Basin

Abstract

Niru Field is one of the mature field with giant production in the South Sumatera Basin. Niru Field production was started from the first discovery on 1951. Niru field was produced from TAF TRM and GRM reservoir which show the 10 – 20 m thicjness, ). 25 porosity and 10 – 1500 mD permeability. Integrated methods must be used to increase the production of Niru Field. The 150 well and 25 km2 3D seismic were used and analyzed to find the new prospect in this field. The opportunity in the flank area is proposed as the step out well location. The fluvial facies is the main reservoir in the Niru Field and successful recognized in the North East Flank Area. This reservoir in the NE area can produce 1 thousand BOPD. Geology reconstruction find the similar trend in the NW flank with the trend follow NE – SW fluvial channel trend. The NE – SW normal fault is clearly observed as permeability barrier and confirm the step out location is “the new pool”. To reduce uncertainty, the rock physics parameter was performed to reveal the sand probabilistic. Vp/ Vs ratio is the selected attribute that clearly separate sand – shale trend. The Vp/Vs map is used as the primary guide for facies and porosity model modeling. The new approach passive seismic was carried out in this field as second opinion to confirm the new step out location. In the NE area, passive seismic shows the coincide result which the oil well exhibited the high amplitude but the water well displayed the low amplitude. The step out location revealed the high amplitude so that it confirms us to propose this location as the new pool in the Niru Field.
