Visual Navigation Precision Drilling Technology under Channel Deposit Environment

Abstract

Due to the influence of river erosion, the sedimentary strata of the fluvial channel are unevenly distributed and the sand body variation is obvious, which result in challenges in directional drilling operation. For this reason, the underground visual navigation precision drilling technology was studied. The wellbore peripheral stratigraphic visualization model was built by stratigraphic inversion technique, i. e. taking the multi-well logging subdivided layers as the vertical stratum constraint and using the seismic horizon as the lateral constraint. The formation drilling navigation model was established by extracting the vertical slice on the basis of the azimuth of well to be drilled, which enables the rapid drilling and accurate target hitting. Field test verification of visual navigation precision drilling technology was carried out in Well JPH-X, Hangjinqi Block. By comparing and analyzing the navigation model with the actual drilling data of second section in the early stage, the model was found to be completely consistent with the actual data, indicating the accuracy of this navigation model. This model is applied to determine the sidetracking position in the third section, and the drilling navigation was performed in horizontal section, with the sandstone encountering rate of 100%. The underground visual navigation precision drilling technology provides a new technical means for rapid and excellent drilling of channel sedimentary strata.
