Turpan-Hami Basin, located in Tianshan folds and thrust belts, is a Meso-Cenozoic intermountain basin. Affected by the Yanshanian and Hymalaya tectonic movements, a complex piedmont overthrust tectonic system has developed in its northern margin. In spite of the discovery of hydrocarbon in the last few decades, problems in petroleum potential and reservoir evaluation are also existed. With the guidance of Fault Bent Fold theory, field outcrops and pre-stack depth migration seismic, the technologies of balanced cross sections and forward model, are applied to rebuild structure unit and to identify structural traps. The northern piedmont zone is separated as thrust belt and fault-fold belt, and the latter with the common characteristics of nose structure developed can be subdivided into fault zone, anticline zone and slope zone in latitude. In longitude the northern piedmont zone is divided into three sections. Because of different petroleum systems, the oil-gas target layers are not the same in different zones. The northern piedmont overthrust structure system is a result of stacked, reformed and compounded by Yanshanian and Hymalaya structures. So the zones and the sections are controlled by Yanshanian and Hymalayaian tectonic movement and variety hydrocarbon reservoirs are formed. It may be helpful to the Jurassic petroleum exploration of the northern belt.
