A Decade of Coal Bed Methane in Australia

During the past decade, the Australian coal bed methane (CBM) industry has been transformed, and has grown exponentially, with billions of dollars invested.

Australian CBM has been dominated by the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland, from both Jurassic and Permian coals. We will describe the various basins and geological framework, as well as the dramatic development of the sector, including the importance of the planned LNG projects that underpin the Australian coal bed methane development.
