An Examination of the Structure and Stratigraphy in the Southern Sabine Uplift

Phillips, Chad TJ1 (1) Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA

Research on the structure and stratigraphy of reservoirs in eastern Texas around the Sabine Uplift is vast. Fewer have focused on the southern portion of the Sabine Uplift, south of fields such as the Carthage Cotton Valley Gas Field and the East Texas Field. The field area examined with-in is located in Shelby County, TX in the southern part of the Sabine Uplift and just south of the Mount Enterprise Fault Zone. With the use of donated 3D seismic and well log data, the structure and stratigraphy of the area is identified and examined. This examination allows a comparison of how this area evolved structurally and stratigraphically opposed to hydrocarbon fields to the north, as well as, determines how much an impact hydrocarbon migration played. Integrating the 3D seismic and well log data to help identify structures is key, and allows comparisons to be made between these reservoirs and previous work done on the larger reservoirs to the north.
