To study the regularity of the accommodation space changes in Songliao basin is helpful for the recognitions of its source-reservoir-seal assemble and exploration potential. According to interpretations of seismic sections, analysis of drilling and core data, four kinds of accommodation spaces have been recognized in Mesozoic of Songliao basin. They are subaquatic accommodation space, subaerial accommodation space, basin accommodation space and potential accommodation space. Different accommodation space had different increasing models. Climatic changes from arid to wet and short-term communication of lake and marine increased subaquatic accommodation space. The transfer of the fluvial balance sections could form subaerial accommodation space. And the movement of boundary faults or depression of the whole basin would produce basin accommodation space. The changes of the proportional relation between different types of accommodation space controlled the characteristics of the spatial distribution of source bed, oil reservoir and cap formation and their assemble.
