Abstract: Upper Jurassic Reservoirs in Different Formations of Cuba

Rodríguez-Viera De Villavicencio, Maritza* Bárbaro Villavicencio, Dania Brey and Sylvia Blanco - Ceinpet, Cuba

In the present work are presented the results of studies carried out on rocks deposited between the Oxfordian Jurassic and Late Tithonian, which constitute hydrocarbon reservoirs and occasionally source rock in the oil field on the Northwestern coast of Cuba.

The lithofacies, texture, structure, biofacies, environment conditions of deposition and electrofacies are analyzed in integral form that permitted to characterize and correlate the wells. A detailed study of the cores related to the diagenetic processes and fracturation that could improve or worsen the primary conditions of the rocks was also made.

To differentiate the facies, porous structures porous structure and to discern about their reservoir characteristics it was established relationships such as permeability-porosity, porosity-formation factor, capillary pressure, water saturation and volume of pores-radio of the pores.

The results are generalized through the characterization and analyses of the well logs getting from them the evaluation parameters of porosity and hydrocarbon saturation, and differentiate the reservoirs according to the type of porosity and prevail secondary processes.

This permitted, among other conclusions, to differentiate the deposits of the Kimmeridgian and Tithonian of the oil fields of the North Basin of Cuba in the whole analyzed aspects, lithologic, paleoenvironment-reservoirs, and to establish the possibility of each sequence as an exploitation prospect.
