Abstract: Chemostratigraphy: A New Tool for the Characterisation and Correlation of Chalk Hydrocarbon Reservoir Rocks

Summary

Elemental and isotopic geochemical data have been used to subdivide, date and correlate the Abiod Chalk Formation in the Miskar Gas Field, offshore Tunisia. Our methods provide higher stratigraphic resolution than obtainable from conventional bio- and lithostratigraphic analyses, allow the dating of key horizons, and enable an improved understanding of reservoir development and diagenesis.
