A Petrophysical Synthesis of Carbonatic Oil-Bearing Reservoirs in Albania

ZAIMI, LUAN, MELONASHI GJENCI, and COBO LEONIDHA

More than ten hydrocarbon-bearing formations or reservoirs have been currently discovered in carbonatic formations in Albania.

The general characteristics of their petrophysical properties could be summarized as: Massive, layered reservoirs saturated with hydrocarbons mainly in fractures and dissolution pores or caverns, rarely associated by levels of primary porosity which in general are saturated with sedimentation connate water.

From the quantity viewpoint, the hydrocarbon saturated porosity constitutes up to 10 percent of the total porosity of the reservoir. But their productivity is compensated by the reservoir massiveness and the big oil-bearing stages of some hundreds of meters.

The argumentation of the above, the presentation of a synthetic reservoir model based on field and surface studies and the role of the petrophysic factor in the distribution of hydrocarbons made up the subject of the paper we are presenting.
