Abstract: Hydrocarbon Potential in the Mesaverde and above within the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming

The Fort Union, Lance, and Mesaverde formations have proven their productivity in the Wind River and greater Green River basins. These same formations occur in the Big Horn Basin but have not experienced any major exploration effort. This paper is an effort to consolidate all the available production and testing data to provide a basis for future exploration. Problems with past exploration efforts are discussed along with suggestions for increasing the probability of finding commercial hydrocarbons.
