Abstract: Caspian Sea Level Changes and Prognosis

A synthesis of data relevant to the rise and fall of the Caspian Sea has been carried out. Three basic time periods are examined:

-- 500,000 years ago to present
-- 16,000 years to present
-- 1600 AD to present.

Data appropriate to each period is presented and discussed. What is clear is that we have left a time of historic low stand of the Caspian and are entering one of higher sea levels. The question is, just how high will it now go?
