Abstract: Data Honored Minimum Curvature Surfaces
Dave Semmens
The minimum curvature gridding algorithm, first introduced in 1974, is widely used in mapping software. Traditionally, minimum curvature uses a grid-based iterative solution technique which is controlled by changes in grid node values. Such an approach does not assure data honoring.
This paper will demonstrate the results of a grid-based minimum curvature solution which guarantees that the data will be honored within a given limits. Real geologic data are used.
