Abstract: Oil and Gas Potential of Northern Marginal Subsidences of Siberian Platform

N. Nemchenko, A. Rovenskaya, L. Girshgorn

Due to considerable amount of seismic prospecting and exploration drilling there were received some data which enable to estimate more accurately oil and gas potential of the northern marginal subsidence of the Siberian platform.

The territory in question belongs to the region of ancient consolidation of basement of the North-West of Siberian craton (Jenisey-Khatangsky) trough and adjacent Northern-Eastern regions of the West Siberia). Tectonic position of the depression enables to perform paralleling the peculiarities of its geological structure and presence of oil and gas with riftgenic margins of ancient basements (Leno-Viluisk syneclise on the East, Barents sea-on the West) as well as young West-Siberian platform. For prospects assessment of oil and gas content and general oil and gas potential of Northern-Western margin of Siberian platform some regularities are effective which are applicable for Northern region of West Siberia (Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits), for Tungusk and Leno-Viluisk basins (as for Tr ass-Paleozoy deposits). Comprehensive analysis of geologic-geophysical, geologic-geochemical factors made it possible to estimate oil and gas potential and accomplish territory's zoning on the basis of hydrocarbons' phase state, determine zones which have good prospects of finding liquid and gas hydrocarbons and thus to target prospecting and exploration for oil and gas.
