As an exploration method, it is inadequate merely to identify and quantify anomalous amplitude vs. offset (AVO) behavior. AVO behavior is the consequence of a complex of circumstances. It is caused by impedance contrasts, rigidity contrasts, and AVO tuning effects. These effects may combine constructively or destructively, depending on the characteristics of the reflecting package.
INSIGHT (TM) is an interactive analysis tool that analyzes the AVO response and identifies the relative contributions from various sources, whether from impedance contrasts, rigidity contrasts, or AVO tuning effects.
