High-Resolution Logging in Air-Drilled Holes
Michael P. Donovan
Increased vertical resolution of logging tools has greatly aided the evaluation of geologic zones in air-drilled holes. Air drilling, common to the Appalachian basin, limits the selection of logging measurements. Those tools suited to the air-hole environment typically have bed resolutions ranging from 2 to 10 ft. New wireline measurements and advancements in processing of older measurements allow accurate evaluation of formations that are less than 1 ft thick.
