Abstract: Prevention of Damage to Waterfowl on Disposal Ponds in Northeast Colorado

Ronald F. Lestina

Inefficient field operations in producing oil fields of the Denver basin resulted in the deaths of some migratory and resident birds and mammals. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has prosecuted several oil operators for violations of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Although there is potential for future problems, methods of avoiding these problems are available.
