Abstract: Role of Contractor Drilling Reports in Interpretation of Well Records (Drilling Practices Affecting Sample Interpretation)

Published well logs of older wells used to give stratigraphic and structural information in preparation for extension of production either vertically or laterally must be interpreted in terms of practices and techniques in vogue by drillers at the time at which the wells were drilled. Instances are discussed where "formations and strata" were added from the rig floor.
