Comments and suggestions to authors
- HTML text
- JPEG or GIF images/figures with text and links to figures throughout text
- PDF entire article, of text and figures, with link to and from HTML text
Search and Discovery will be accessible to any user from its site (searchanddiscovery.net), from the AAPG site, from the host site (petris.com), and by linkage from other sites that choose to provide "gateways."
Search and Discovery articles will also be available with archival AAPG library, so that subscribers, if they wish, will be able to search for them simultaneously with the archival documents.
Ideal submittal
- Two sets of documents/data (on diskette or disc or via email or FTP), along with one hardcopy (for guide in editing and for webmaster).
- First set--incorporates into one file (PDF) all features of article (text, graphics/images/figures, spreadsheets/databases, equations) and corresponds to hardcopy
- Second set--Separates data into files for text (HTML), graphics (JPEG), spreadsheets (Excel), equations
Preferred Formats
- Text--HTML, ASCII, Rich Text Format, Microsoft Word
- Spreadsheets--Microsoft excel, Quattro Pro
- Images/Figures/Graphics--TIF for conversion into JPEG or GIF and into PDF
Presentations in PowerPoint are acceptable. It should be noted that where screened patterns are used, errors in output may require printing and scanning, with possible partial loss of resolution.
Manuscripts on CD-ROM may be sent to Editor, Search & Discovery, AAPG, Box 979, Tulsa OK 74101. If they can be transmitted by email, they may be sent to editor@searchanddiscovery.net; if they are transmitted by FTP, they may be sent to aapg.net, followed by an email to the editor, as given above, advising of that transfer.Search and Discoverys goal is to be helpful to authors and to be flexible in procedures and requirements so that the authors ideas and supporting data are presented in the most effective manner and in the most timely fashion.
