Introduction
•Buzzard discovered May 2001 with the drilling of 20/6-3.
•
•Encountered 400 ft oil column in Upper Jurassic deep
•marine sands.
•
•Tested at constrained rate of 6547 bbls/day. 32 deg API oil
•Sidetrack, 1500 m. to east, intersected oil-water contact
•and extended column height to at least 750 ft.
•Subsequent appraisal programme of 6 wells and 2 sidetracks
•confirmed a STOIIP of 760 - 1220 mmbo, making it the
•largest discovery in the UKCS for at least 10 years.
•Sanction for development granted within 30 months of
•discovery and first production scheduled for late 2006.
•Production rates expected to be 180-190,000 barrels per day,
•representing about 10% of UK oil production.
